Excellence Awards 2024 Categories
The 2024 Excellence Awards feature Product and Project categories as well as Industry Recognition Awards. Please take a look at the criteria below before deciding which categories to enter.
Criteria
Product Entries
- Products must have been released after 1 January 2023, or have received a significant update since that date.
- Each product will be limited to TWO category entries, so it’s best to choose wisely.
- Our judges will be looking at each entry using certain criteria, as well as their own general expertise, to determine the winner. The criteria is as follows, please keep each answer to a maximum of 250 words.
- What are your product’s key features?
- Why was this innovation needed?
- How has this product benefited the end user?
- What makes your product stand apart from its competitors?
- You should provide examples of client testimonials and/or case studies to illustrate the product’s impact. This should be a maximum of 750 words.
Project Entries
- Projects must have been completed on or after January 1, 2023, or the project is still ongoing.
- Each project will be limited to TWO category entries, so it’s best to choose wisely.

- What was the reasoning behind the project?
- What challenges arose during the project, and how were they overcome?
- What made this project stand out?
- What was the outcome of the project – how did it benefit the end user?
- You should provide examples of client testimonials and/or case studies to illustrate the product’s impact. This should be a maximum of 750 words.
Industry Recognition Awards
- Each entry should be no longer than 1,000 words.
- These awards will spotlight exceptional contributors for each category; please use your entry to highlight any outstanding achievements, contributions to the industry and innovation.

Product Categories
Building/Lighting Control Product of the Year
We are looking for either a Building Management System that can provide centralised control over multiple building functions, or a dedicated system to one function – such as lighting control. This product category is open to both software and hardware solutions that deliver innovation.
Energy Storage/UPS Product of the Year
We are looking for either a UPS or Energy Storage product that has been designed to deliver innovation within a residential, industrial or commercial building, or connected to the grid.
Lighting Product of the Year (Luminaires/Lamps)
We are looking for innovative luminaires or lamps that can be installed in a commercial, industrial or residential setting.
Test & Measurement Product of the Year
We are looking for an innovative Test & Measurement product that would be used for an electrical installation in a commercial, industrial or residential setting.
Project Categories
Building/Lighting Control Project of the Year
We are looking for a project that involves installing a Building Management System that can provide centralised control over multiple building functions, or a dedicated system to one function – such as lighting control. This project category is open to both software and hardware installations.
Electric Vehicle Installation of the Year
We are looking for a project that involves the installation of electric vehicle chargepoints, or associated EV charging infrastructure.
Energy Storage/UPS Project of the Year
We are looking for a project that involves the installation of an uninterruptible power supply or energy storage solution in a commercial, industrial or residential setting, or connected to the grid.
Lighting Project of the Year
We are looking for a project that involves a lighting installation within a commercial, industrial or residential setting.
Power Generation, Transmission & Distribution Project of the Year
We are looking for a range of projects that involve the installation or upgrade of power infrastructure – this could be at the building level, distribution network level, or grid-scale.
Renewable Power Project of the Year
We are looking for a project that involves the installation of renewables within a commercial, industrial or residential setting, or connected to either the distribution network or National Grid.

Data Centre Power Product of the Year
We are looking for any power product that has been designed to deliver innovation in a data centre environment.
Data Centre Cooling Product of the Year
We are looking for any cooling product that has been designed to deliver innovation in a data centre environment.
Data Centre Hardware Solution of the Year
We are looking for any hardware (for example, racks/servers/cabling) that has been designed to deliver innovation in a data centre environment.
DCIM Solution of the Year
We are looking for a data centre infrastructure management solution (DCIM) that has been designed to deliver innovation in a data centre environment,
Project Categories
Data Centre Power Project of the Year
We are looking for a power project that has been implemented in a data centre to improve energy efficiency, resiliency, redundancy or sustainability.
Data Centre Cooling Project of the Year
We are looking for a cooling project that has been implemented in a data centre to improve energy efficiency, resiliency, redundancy or sustainability.
Edge Project of the Year
We are looking for a project that has demonstrated an innovative development, deployment and operation of an edge data centre.
Data Centre Design Project of the Year
We are looking for a data centre design project that has utilised innovative or unique practices to deliver a data centre.
Intelligent Data Centre Project of the Year
We are looking for a data centre that has utilised “intelligent” design and/or solutions to boost efficiency, resiliency, redundancy or sustainability.
Green Data Centre of the Year
We are looking for a data centre that has utilised sustainable and energy efficient design solutions to deliver notable “green” gains.
Cloud Project of the Year
We are looking for a project that demonstrates true innovation in the cloud, contributing to furthering or promoting the cloud industry.
Industry Recognition Awards
Cloud Service of the Year
We are looking for a cloud service provider that has gone above and beyond in provision of cloud services.
Colocation Provider of the Year
We are looking for a colocation provider that has gone above and beyond in provision of colocation services.
Data Centre of the Year
We are looking for a data centre that is outstanding in the industry due to its high standards in areas such as sustainability, innovation, energy efficiency and/or reliability.
Data Centre Consultancy of the Year
We are looking for a consultancy working within the data centre sector that has demonstrated excellence in the way it works with clients and its approach to innovation in the industry.
Excellence in Engineering Award
We are looking to celebrate excellence in engineering, which means that this category is open to any electrical engineering services company, or electrical contractor that has demonstrated their commitment to pushing the industry forward.
Training Provider of the Year
Given the importance of the next generation to both the data centre and electrical industries, we want to highlight the training providers that are enabling the next generation to get the skills our industries require to thrive.
Sustainable Project of the Year
We are looking for a project that showcases excellence in sustainability across both the data centre and electrical industries.
Net Zero Hero Award
The Net Zero Hero Award will recognise a company’s commitment to net zero within its own operations, or helping its clients achieve net zero.
Pushing Sustainability Forward Award
The Pushing Sustainability Forward Award will look specifically for companies within the data centre and electrical sectors that are making impactful contributions to a sustainable future – whether that is through its environmental initiatives or its social impact on a local community.
Lifetime Achievement Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award is looking for entrants that have pushed the data centre and/or electrical industry forward in a significant way, whether it’s through the creation of an innovative new product or product category, or has consistently nurtured new talent, industry best practices and new ways of thinking.
